5T/H Borehole Water Treatment System for an Electronics Factory in Uganda

5T/H Borehole Water Treatment System for an Electronics Factory in Uganda

Project Overview

Zhongnuo supplied a 5T/H borehole water treatment system for an electronics factory in Uganda. The factory uses local borehole water for equipment cleaning, workshop operations and other production-related applications.

The raw water contained sediment, turbidity, hardness and dissolved impurities. We designed a fully automatic treatment system combining pretreatment and reverse osmosis to provide stable, low-salinity process water.

Customer Requirements

Item Project Requirement
Project location Uganda
Customer industry Electronics manufacturing
Raw water source Borehole groundwater
Treatment capacity 5 m³/h
Water application Equipment cleaning and factory process water
Operation mode Fully automatic
Main requirement Reduce turbidity, hardness, sediment and dissolved salts

Project Challenges

Borehole water quality can affect electronics manufacturing operations in several ways:

  • Sediment may block pipelines and precision equipment.
  • Hardness can cause scaling on production and cleaning equipment.
  • Dissolved salts may leave mineral deposits on components.
  • Unstable water quality can increase maintenance costs.
  • Manual operation is unsuitable for continuous factory production.

Therefore, the customer required a reliable industrial borehole water purification system for an electronics factory.

Water Treatment Solution

Based on the customer’s water source and application, we supplied a 5m³/h automatic borehole water RO system with multi-stage pretreatment.

Process Flow

Borehole Water → Raw Water Tank → Feed Pump → Multimedia Filter → Activated Carbon Filter → Cartridge Filter → Reverse Osmosis System → Treated Water Tank

If raw-water hardness is high, an antiscalant dosing system or water softener can be added before the cartridge filter. The final configuration should always be based on the complete water-quality report.

Main Treatment Stages

Treatment Stage Main Function
Multimedia filter Removes sand, sediment and suspended solids
Activated carbon filter Reduces odor, organic matter and chlorine
Cartridge filter Protects the RO membranes from fine particles
RO system Removes dissolved salts, hardness and other impurities
Treated water tank Stores purified water for stable factory supply

Equipment Features

  • Stable output of 5 m³/h
  • Automatic operation and flushing
  • Compact industrial design
  • Low daily maintenance requirements
  • High salt-removal performance
  • Easy operation for local factory staff
  • Voltage customization for the Ugandan site
  • Optional remote monitoring and fault alarms

Technical Specifications

Parameter Specification
System capacity 5 m³/h
Feed water Borehole groundwater
Main technology Pretreatment + reverse osmosis
Working pressure Customized according to system design
Control system Automatic PLC control
Power supply Customized to local voltage
Filter material FRP, carbon steel or SS304
Main application Electronics factory process and cleaning water

FAQ

Is borehole water suitable for electronics manufacturing?

Untreated borehole water is generally unsuitable for sensitive production processes. Pretreatment and RO purification are often required to reduce sediment, hardness and dissolved salts.

Can this system produce ultrapure water?

The standard system produces RO water. For applications requiring higher-purity water, a second-pass RO, EDI system or mixed-bed polishing unit can be added.

Can the system operate continuously?

Yes. The system supports automatic continuous operation, flushing and fault protection.

Is the treatment process the same for every borehole?

No. The correct process depends on TDS, hardness, turbidity, iron, manganese, silica and microbial levels.

What information is required for a quotation?

Customers should provide a borehole water-quality report, required capacity, daily operating hours, water application, local voltage and delivery destination.
