60TPH Brackish Water Desalination System for a Glass Factory in China

Project Overview

Zhongnuo Water Treatment supplied a 60TPH brackish water desalination system for a glass factory in China.

The system combines ultrafiltration pretreatment with double-pass reverse osmosis to provide stable purified water for glass production. It operates automatically and supports the factory’s continuous production-water demand.

Customer Requirements

The glass factory required a water treatment system that could:

  •  ♦Produce 60 m³ of purified water per hour
  •  ♦Reduce salts, hardness and suspended impurities
  •  ♦Provide stable water quality for glass production
  •  ♦Operate continuously and automatically
  •  ♦Reduce scaling in pipelines and production equipment

Our Solution

Considering the raw-water conditions and production requirements, Zhongnuo designed a UF and double-pass RO water treatment system for glass manufacturing.

Ultrafiltration removes suspended solids, colloids and microorganisms before RO. The first-pass BWRO system removes most dissolved salts and hardness, while the second-pass RO further reduces TDS and conductivity.

This process provides more stable product water than a conventional single-pass RO system.

Process Flow

Brackish Water → Raw Water Tank → Feed Pump → Ultrafiltration System → UF Water Tank → First-Pass BWRO → Intermediate Tank → Second-Pass RO → Product Water Tank → Glass Production

  • Glass washing and rinsing
  • Production process water
  • Equipment cleaning
  • Surface treatment
  • Cooling-system makeup water
  • Boiler feedwater preparation

The required water quality depends on the glass product and manufacturing process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is UF used before RO?

UF removes particles and colloids, protects the RO membranes and improves system stability.

Why does the system use double-pass RO?

Double-pass RO produces lower TDS and conductivity than single-pass RO, making it suitable for demanding industrial production.

Can the system capacity be customized?

Yes. Zhongnuo can customize the capacity, process, materials and control system according to the water analysis and production demand.

Conclusion

This project shows how a 60TPH double-pass RO system for a glass manufacturing plant can provide stable, low-salinity production water.

Zhongnuo Water Treatment supplies customized UF, RO and brackish water desalination systems for industrial factories worldwide.
