80m³/h Centralized Industrial RO Water Supply Project

Project Overview

Zhongnuo supplied an 80m³/h industrial reverse osmosis water treatment system for a manufacturing park in Tangerang, Banten Province, Indonesia.

The industrial park accommodates 12 manufacturing factories with different production schedules. Limited municipal water availability, insufficient pressure during peak hours and frequent supply restrictions affected continuous production.

To establish a reliable centralized water supply, Zhongnuo designed a modular system combining ultrafiltration pretreatment, reverse osmosis desalination, automatic chemical dosing and PLC remote monitoring.

Project Information

Item Project Details
Location Tangerang, Banten Province, Indonesia
Application Centralized industrial park water supply
Raw water Groundwater with fluctuating turbidity, hardness and TDS
Net product-water capacity 80m³/h (80,000 L/h)
Maximum daily output Up to 1,920m³/day
Main process UF pretreatment + chemical dosing + industrial RO
Installation Modular skid-mounted system
Control Automatic PLC with centralized remote monitoring
Operating mode 24/7-capable continuous operation
Expansion Reserved interfaces for additional RO modules

Actual output, recovery and product-water quality depend on raw-water conditions and operating parameters.

Customer Challenges

The industrial park faced several water-supply and management problems:

  • Municipal supply could not meet the combined demand of 12 factories
  • Water pressure was insufficient during morning and evening peak periods
  • Groundwater contained elevated hardness and dissolved salts
  • Rainy-season water-quality fluctuations affected treatment stability
  • Individual factory treatment units caused repeated investment
  • Decentralized maintenance made water-quality management difficult
  • Future expansion required additional treatment capacity

Customized Water Treatment Solution

Zhongnuo supplied an 80m³/h modular industrial RO system designed for centralized water purification and distribution.

An upstream industrial ultrafiltration system was installed to control suspended solids, turbidity and colloids during seasonal water-quality fluctuations. Antiscalant dosing was included to reduce scaling risk before the water entered the RO membranes.

The treated water is collected in a centralized product-water tank and distributed to the factories through the industrial park’s water-supply network.

Multiple skid-mounted units and reserved connection interfaces allow additional treatment modules to be installed during the park’s second-phase expansion.

Treatment Process

Groundwater → Raw-Water Tank → Feed Pump → Multimedia Filtration → Ultrafiltration System → Antiscalant Dosing → 5μm Cartridge Filter → High-Pressure Pump → Industrial RO System → Product-Water Tank → Industrial Park Distribution Network

The final pretreatment configuration was selected according to groundwater turbidity, hardness, TDS and seasonal variations.

Main System Configuration

  • High-capacity ultrafiltration pretreatment
  • Industrial 8040 RO membrane elements
  • Automatic antiscalant dosing system
  • 5μm cartridge security filtration
  • Industrial high-pressure pumps
  • Automatic membrane flushing
  • PLC and HMI centralized control
  • Remote operating-data monitoring
  • Online pressure, flow and conductivity instruments
  • High- and low-pressure protection
  • Modular skid-mounted construction
  • Reserved interfaces for capacity expansion

Project Results

After commissioning, the centralized water treatment system delivered the following results:

  • Stable product-water capacity of up to 80m³/h
  • RO salt rejection rate of at least 97% under the specified operating conditions
  • Reduced hardness, TDS and scaling risk
  • More consistent water quality for all factories in the park
  • Reliable water supply during municipal restrictions and peak-demand periods
  • Reduced dependence on separate small treatment units
  • Overall operation and maintenance costs reduced by more than 40%, according to project operating records
  • Simplified centralized monitoring and maintenance
  • Reserved capacity-expansion interfaces for the second construction phase

Advantages of Centralized Industrial Park Water Treatment

Compared with separate water-treatment systems for each factory, a centralized industrial RO plant provides:

  • Unified product-water quality standards
  • Centralized operation and water-quality monitoring
  • Lower repeated equipment investment
  • Reduced labor, consumable and maintenance costs
  • More efficient water distribution between factories
  • Easier capacity expansion as the industrial park develops

This project demonstrates how large-scale industrial reverse osmosis equipment can provide reliable purified water for manufacturing parks facing groundwater-quality problems and limited municipal supply.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can an industrial RO system treat groundwater with fluctuating turbidity?

Yes. However, suitable pretreatment is essential. Ultrafiltration, clarification or multimedia filtration may be required according to the maximum seasonal turbidity.

Why was ultrafiltration installed before the RO system?

UF helps reduce suspended solids, colloids and turbidity. It provides more stable RO feedwater and helps reduce membrane fouling and cleaning frequency.

Can one 80m³/h RO system supply several factories?

Yes. A centralized product-water tank, distribution pumps and a properly designed pipe network can supply multiple factories according to their peak demand.

Can the system operate continuously?

Yes. The equipment is designed for continuous industrial operation. For critical water supply, independent RO trains and duty/standby pumps can be included.

Can treatment capacity be expanded later?

Yes. The modular layout allows additional UF and RO skids to be connected when sufficient piping, electrical capacity and installation space are reserved.
